Brooklyn, NY (Feb. 28, 2003) - St. George's Episcopal Church has commissioned Albert Stained Glass Studio to design and make new stained glass windows for the church's sanctuary. The new three-part set of stained glass will tell the story of St. Paul. It is planned to dedicate the windows April 20th, during Easter services. The new stained glass is a donation to the church by the Walkes Family, in memory of Audrey Eudean Walkes. This is the second set of new windows for St. George's by Albert. Last year, St. George's commissioned windows celebrating the life of St. Luke. The St. Luke windows were installed in the church in October 2002. They were donated by the Wilkinson Family in memory of Adelaide Agatha Wilkinson. The 134 year old St. George's, at Marcy and Gates in Brooklyn, is a venerable neighborhood landmark with numerous social and religious outreach programs. The Rev. Dr. Glenworth D. Miles is the Rector. The church has numerous figural windows by the Tiffany Studio from the 1880s. (Source: Press Release from Albert Stained Glass Studio.) |
