Mission Statement

The aim of St. Martin De Porres Guild of St. George's Episcopal Church, Brooklyn, NY is to be of service and assistance to the community surrounding the church and to the church family.

It is the desire of the Guild to assist those who are less fortunate than ourselves.  This is in keeping with the ideals that St. Martin De Porres demonstrated during his life.

Membership is open to each member of St. George's Church.  Active participation in a church organization can be a vital part of stewardship, which helps strengthen our church family.

The Guild meets on the third Friday of each month in the Parish Hall at 7:00 p.m.  Please attend one our meetings and we hope you will become a member.

Martin of Porres is a great name in the Third World.  He is famous for the miracles he worked to help the poor.  His dedication to the service of the people, particularly those who needed help most urgently, was total.  He adopted the words of Jesus Christ: "I have compassion for the masses." Like Jesus, he multiplied bread to feed the hungry.  The sick called him to the bedside.  His words of consolation and his presence were like soothing balm for their troubled bodies and hearts.  He had experienced frequent ecstatic visions since childhood and his ever-present contact with God was truly awe-inspiring.  From this close union with God, he knew how to draw countless blessings and favors which he showered on the many unfortunate people who are suffering material and spiritual anguish.  From Heaven, he continues his powerful intercession with the good Lord for a better world.   source: Don Bosco Films/Multimedia
